It is disappointing when a new coffee habit becomes a trail of grounds on the counter. Before choosing a grinder, decide where you will grind, pour and wipe up. The space between those tasks can matter more than another row of settings.
Understand the burrs

Compare for your brewing method
Write down whether you mainly make filter coffee or need another preparation method. Check that the maker describes that use and read how the setting is changed. If possible, look at access to the grounds container and the parts you will handle regularly.
Give the grinder a home
Leave room to open the lid and remove the container without moving everything else. Keep the maker’s cleaning instructions accessible. A grinder earns its place when the whole routine, including tidying up, feels manageable rather than when its feature list looks longest.
